Sascha Saßen holds a degree in nursing management (Diplom-Pflegewirt, Catholic University of Applied Sciences Cologne, 2001–2005) and is a registered nurse specialized as a pain expert (CEKIP).

He has many years of leadership experience in healthcare: from 2018 to 2024 he was Head of Quality Management & Ethics and Chief Quality Officer at KORIAN Germany, where he developed and implemented quality standards, digitalization processes and risk management. Before that, he worked as a consultant in the care sector.

Since April 2025 he has been CEO of the hesena Group in Berlin, an owner-managed company focused on inpatient and outpatient care, intensive care and assisted living.

Saßen is a board member of bpa e.V. NRW, a lecturer at FFH Düsseldorf and IMC Krems, and author of numerous publications on quality management, risk management and nursing practice. In April 2026 he spoke at the 420Pharma Circle of Experts on pain management in inpatient long-term care and the medication process in the context of nursing and palliative care as well as cannabis therapy.
